Chuck
Werle, Principal
Chuck has
extensive management experience in public relations
and corporate communications with major companies,
top-tier advertising agencies and established
public relations counseling firms, including:
Cushman/Amberg Communications; Werle Plus Associates
Ltd.; Selz/Seabolt Communications (now Publicis/Dialog);
Hill and Knowlton, Inc.; Leo Burnett Company,
Inc.; First Chicago/Bank One Corporation; J. Walter
Thompson; Miller Brewing Co.; and Deltona Corporation.
He also worked for seven years as a journalist
with various Midwestern newspapers, including
the Milwaukee Journal. Chuck was voted Chicago's Outstanding Public Relations Executive in 2001 by both Chicago chapters of the Public Relations Society of America.
Chuck authored an executives’ guidebook on press
relations that was printed and distributed by
Harvard University’s Business School. He also
was the recipient of the IABC Gold Quill Award
of Excellence in an international competition
drawing more than 3,500 entries. Annual reports
and publications initiated under his direction
have won 11 major awards.

In 1991 Chuck was
appointed to the Michigan State University Journalism
School Enrichment Fund committee. He served three
years on the national advisory council for the
College of Journalism and Communications at the
University of Florida.
Marie Bartlett, Second “in command”
Marie has more than 25 years of experience in communications and was one of the original partners in Carolina Image Builders until major writing assignments limited her contributions.
Born in Australia, Marie offers her expertise to beginning writers as a coach and communications specialist. She is the author of three nonfiction books and is working on her fourth, the story of the Frontier Nursing Service, which will be published in Fall 2008. Over the years, Marie has published hundreds of feature articles for newspapers, magazines, trade journals and special publications. Marie has also taught at the college level in Asheville.
She is a member of the American Society of Journalists & Authors. Marie was even a state magistrate for 10 years and holds a master’s degree in sociology. Her full professional background can be found at www.onceawriter.com.
