New Service for Authors in WNC
A new division to benefit authors in Western North Carolina
is being launched by
Carolina Image Builders, a full‐service accredited public
relations company based in
Asheville.
“To my knowledge there is no literary agent or marketing
firm in this region to assist
authors who would like to publish a book,” said Chuck Werle,
principal of the agency,
who has more than 38 years of experience in organizational communications.
“There are many writers here who would like to become authors
but need professional
guidance in securing a publisher and establishing a campaign
to encourage sales for the
book,” he added.
The agency’s first assignment is working with accomplished
author Marie Bartlett of
Hendersonville, who will have her fourth non‐fiction book
published by McFarland &
Company in mid‐December.
The book is entitled Frontier Nursing Service
and features the struggles of Mary
Breckinridge in establishing a nursing‐midwife service in
Eastern Kentucky, which had
the highest infant mortality rate in the nation before the service
began in 1925.
CIB will provide such services as searching for
the right publisher, editing manuscripts,
securing endorsements, arranging for bookstore appearances, scheduling
media
interviews and the development of promotional venues.
